The Australian Intercultural Society is a non‑profit, community‑oriented organisation based in Melbourne, Australia. Its overarching goal is to promote multiculturalism, interfaith dialogue, and social cohesion by encouraging interaction, cooperation, and understanding among people from diverse cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Founded in 2000, https://www.intercultural.org.au/ emerged in a social and historical context where Australia — already diverse because of immigration and Indigenous heritage — faced the challenge of balancing pluralism with unity. The founders, many of whom came from Muslim Australian communities, sought to build bridges of understanding between Muslims and the broader Australian public, but also between different faiths, ethnicities, and cultural groups more broadly.

Through its long history, AIS has positioned itself as one of the pioneering organisations in Australia for interfaith and intercultural outreach.
